The Rockingham Flames women will have a new coach heading into the 2024 NBL1 West season.

Marcus Wong has been appointed head coach for the next two years, taking over from Tom Knowles who stepped down from the role in August after three years at the helm.

Wong has spent the last two NBL1 West seasons as head coach of the Joondalup Wolves women.

Previously, he was assistant coach of the Adelaide Lightning in the WNBL for seven years.

“I want to thank the Rockingham Flames for giving me this opportunity," Wong said.

"I am excited to be joining the club, one of the league leading clubs both on and off the floor in their NBL1 programs.

"It is an exciting time at the club and I am looking forward to getting to work with the girls and continuing to build on the work done there already."

The Rockingham Flames women were just one win away from playing in an NBL1 West grand final this season but were knocked out in the prelims by the Willetton Tigers.
