Local Jacq Chorlton took out Wearable Art Mandurah's 2018 Artist of the Year award.
Her garment Sky and Water III featured black corflute birds, inner tube feathers and handmade aluminium fish.
The piece struck a chord with the judging panel by taking inspiration from Dutch graphic artist Maurits Cornelis Escher.
“Jacq’s work was a wonderful take on Escher’s illustrations – and an innovative, creative use of recyclable materials,” Judge Paul O'Connor said.
A tirade of singing, dancing and audio visual backdrops helped to bring the garments of 132 participants to life.
There was plenty of culture on display with entrants from China, India, New Zealand, Romania, Singapore, Switzerland and the UK.
But Artistic Director Bernie Bernard wasn't let down by the Mandurah community.
“The vast majority of the cast for this performance – the singers, the dancers, the actors, were local Mandurah talent,” she said.
A handful of tickets to the Wearable Art Mandurah Showcase at 2pm today are still available.
