Skipper rescued as boat sinks off Dawesville

PIC: File

A man has been rescued from the Dawesville Cut after his boat sank this morning.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority were alerted to the incident after receiving an EPIRB (emergency position-indicating radio beacon) activation around 8.20am.

Once making contact with the boat, they were informed that a 5.7 metre recreational vessel was taking on water.

The RAC Rescue Helicopter, Peel Water Police and Volunteer Marine Rescue Mandurah attended to the scene.

The boat was found 5 nautical miles from the Dawesville cut semi-submerged in the water.

Luckily, the man onboard was not injured.

His boat has been towed back to Mandurah.
