The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale has launched a new equine road safety campaign ahead of Road Safety Week.
The new campaign aims to increase awareness of horses on roads within the Shire and encourages courtesy among all road users.
As a fast-growing and semi-rural region, the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale faces unique challenges such as sharing roads with horse riders.
The Shire is taking advantage of the national spotlight on the roads leading up to Road Safety Week and has launched its new campaign which urges all road users to 'make every journey safe.'
Shire President Michelle Rich says as the state's leading equine hub, they are serious about the safety of their horse riders and road users.
"The Equine Road Safety Campaign is a simple reminder to all road users of how to share the road safely, together, regardless of whether you're driving, walking, riding a bike, or on horseback," Rich said.
"Everyone deserves to feel safe and confident on our roads, and we're hoping with your help to share our message, that's exactly what everyone will feel."
To help spread the word, the Shire will be sharing a series of informative road safety videos and material.
