The Shire of Murray has announced the five recipients for the 2024/25 Community Facility Fund.

The Pinjarra Bowling Club, Peel Slot Car Club, West Murray Hall Management Committee, WA Mower Racing Association and Yunderup Sport and Recreation Club have been successful in securing funding towards improving their facilities.

Shire President David Bolt said the Community Facility Fund helps not-for-profit organisations upgrade, extend or construct well-planned sport, recreation and community facilities that contribute to a vibrant, inclusive and healthy Murray.

“This fund allows us to support a range of organisations to further support our community facilities, helping to make Murray an outstanding place for community, lifestyle and opportunity,” President Bolt said.

“This round has seen a high number of applications from a range of community and sporting groups and clubs. And we are pleased to support the greatest number of groups as possible within the budget allocation.”

Kirsten Kleiber from the Yunderup Sport and Recreation Club said they were thrilled to receive the news of the grant.

“We are so excited to use this grant to support our kindy kids getting a safer and updated play area,” Kirsten Kleiber said.

The Peel Slot Car Club were also grateful to hear the news.

“On behalf of the Peel Slot Car Club, I would like to pass on our sincere gratitude to the Shire of Murray for their generosity, and their faith in our club. We recognise that there are many deserving organisations in our community who are all striving to be the best they can. We can
assure the Shire that we will endeavour to become an asset to the region that can be utilised and enjoyed by as many people across the community as possible,” President of the Peel Slot Car Club Shayne Uren said.

A budget of $60,000 has been allocated this financial year, an increase of $10,000 from previous years.

Applicants could apply for up to 70 per cent of the total project cost (eligible items only) to a maximum of $20,000.

The next round for this fund will open in 2025/26 financial year.
