Seven Peel businesses will share in $1.17 million of funding under the State Government's latest round of the Regional Economic Development Grants program.
The RED Grants program helps fund locally driven projects to stimulate economic growth in the regions.
Among the recipients was the Mandurah Indoor Rock Climbing Centre who received a $60,000 grant to expand their current facilities.
The funding will see the centre double its floor space by introducing a state-of-the-art bouldering facility and accommodating a range of activities such as children's parties, men's mental health, women's fitness, senior wellbeing groups and State-level climbing competitions.
The project will create 11 new jobs for the local community.
A $250,000 grant was awarded to commercial bakery ARYZTA to purchase equipment that will improve bun quality at their facility in the Peel Business Park.
A $150,000 grant will support Waroona Earthworks and Wood Supplies’ diversification into niche mine site rehabilitation services in the region, as it transitions away from the use of native forest products.
The grant will fund the purchase of an ‘articulated truck’ with specialised design to work on steep terrain and help prevent land erosion and plant damage.
Waroona-based SDR Engineering has also been awarded $210,000 to expand its operations and diversify into manufacturing replacement spare parts for heavy equipment.
The RED Grant will be used to expand into larger premises adjacent to their current workshop, purchase and install a new lathe and gantry crane.
Miami Physiotherapy will use its $100,000 grant towards building of a purpose-built physiotherapy and allied health centre in Lakelands, providing treatment rooms, a rehabilitation gym, open class exercise area and consultant rooms.
The facility will fill critical market gaps in Lakelands and create up to five new full-time jobs within the first 12 months of project completion.
Little Stiller Distillery was awarded a $150,000 grant for a refit of the first floor which will help expand their operations.
“Peel offers a vibrant range of investment and growth prospects, as it continues to expand in export-oriented sectors such as manufacturing," Regional Development Minister Don Punch said.
“Congratulations to all the successful REDS recipients this year. The diverse range of Peel projects reflects the thriving, social and innovative work happening across the region."
