Safety Bay man charged by Gang Crime Squad

A Safety Bay man is one of three men to be charged by Gang Crime Squad officers following an aggravated armed robbery and burglary at a house in Midland.

Three men allegedly entered the house on Wellaton Street armed with a baseball bat and a firearm on Sunday night.

The trio threatened the 32 year old male occupant and also made demands for his personal property.

Police said the man was then assaulted with the bat and rendered unconscious.  

Also home at the time were the victim’s female partner and their 11 year old daughter.  

It will be further alleged the man’s Holden Commodore was stolen from the address and was later found burnt out in Middle Swan.  

Police executed search warrants at houses in Safety Bay and Noranda on Monday and Tuesday and arrested four people.  

A 34-year-old man from Safety Bay has been charged with aggravated burglary, acts or omissions causing bodily harm or danger, aggravated armed robbery, steal motor vehicle and two counts of criminal damage.  

He appeared in Midland Magistrates Court on Tuesday and will next appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on August 30.

A 33-year-old man from Midland and a 44-year-old from Noranda are also facing a number of similar charges.

A 46-year-old Noranda woman will be summonsed for possessing cannabis and a controlled weapon.

Police are yet to locate the firearm allegedly used in the incident.
