Premier Mark McGowan has visited Mandurah today to talk up how the Peel region will benefit from the government's first budget.
The Premier visited the Peel region on Friday to affirm the State Government's continued support and commitment to regional Western Australia.
Mark McGowan took a look at the new Mandurah bridge and the Mandurah foreshore which he said will be further enhanced with the $10 million the government is putting in to continue an upgrade program.
To attract more visitors to the region, Peel will share in $27.9 million in tourism funding to showcase regional destinations with a focus on increasing visitation to the State's destination hotspots and creating more local jobs for the areas.
The McGowan Labor Government said its Plan for Jobs is underway with $55.5 million for local projects including the development of Nambeelup and Kemerton and Shotts Industrial Park to stimulate more opportunities and diversify the economy.
To further support new and emerging businesses in the region, $4.5 million has been dedicated for the New Industries Fund which provides essential funding to give start-ups and upcoming industries a much-needed boost.
There is a total of $4 billion in Royalties for Regions expenditure across the State, with a focus on creating jobs and projects that really matter to people in regional WA.
Premier Mark McGowan said our commitment to the Peel region is to ensure we develop and deliver projects that will create jobs and opportunities for locals as well as improve important services such as health and education.
"The Government will provide ongoing support to enable the Peel region to continue to grow into the future.
"In addition to key infrastructure projects, I'm pleased we're also investing in other initiatives such as destination marketing to diversify our economy.
"Peel is a destination in its own right and a growing region that will benefit from tourism efforts - attracting visitors and creating jobs."
