Pinjarra has been announced as a finalist in the 2021 GWN7 Top Tourism Town Awards.
The annual awards recognise some of Western Australia’s best destinations, encouraging travellers to hit the road and see more of their own backyard.
For the first time the historic heritage town of Pinjarra has been recognised as a tourist town in its own right and named a finalist in the 2021 Awards, alongside 16 other towns including Exmouth, Busselton and Kalbarri.
Nearby Dwellingup has also been announced a finalist in the Top Small Tourism Town Award category.
Shire of Murray Chief Executive Officer Dean Unsworth said Pinjarra and its surrounds have used the interstate tourism downturn of the past year to enhance their offerings, as well as their tourism positioning and has re-emerged as a stronger destination.
“The vibrant town of Pinjarra is the gateway to an adventure filled aquatic playground; an invitation to experience life on the Murray River,” Mr Unsworth said.
“Only an hour’s drive from Perth, Pinjarra and its surrounding areas are a melting pot of culture, great cafes, quirky shopfronts and lively events, all flowing with Pinjarra’s authentic historic and country charm.
“Pinjarra really is a standout destination and its elements of nature, a welcoming community and the cultural experiences of the Murray region brings real connection with our visitors."
Public online voting is now open until April 8, 2021.
Voters will be asked to describe why they love Pinjarra, and will go into a draw to win a $5000 WA Travel Voucher.

For the first time in the award’s history, the winning destinations will go into a national competition, competing against the winners from other states to be titled Australia’s Top Tourism Town and Small Tourism Town.
The WA winners will be announced at the 2021 Perth Airport WA Regional Tourism Conference Dinner in Geraldton on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
