Nine hospitalised after suspected mass drug overdose

PIC: File

Police are investigating who these people are, and what's caused them to all be admitted to hospital in pretty serious conditions.

Seven men and two women have been rushed to three hospitals across Perth overnight, all suffering suspected drug overdoses.

Around 11:40pm Police and St John Ambulance officers were called to a home in Colombo Street, Victoria Park where several people were found in unconscious and semi-unconscious states.

All nine people were taken to hospitals, three men are in Royal Perth, where two remain in the Intensive Care Unit, another two men and a woman were taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, two of those people are also in ICU and the remaining two men and a woman are at Fiona Stanley, their condition is unknown.

Seven reports the synthetic drug 'flakka', also known as the "zombie drug" could have been used, rendering takers to a zombie-like state.

They also say neighbours in Victoria Park confirmed some of the people staying at the house are from Colombia and France.

It's understood all people involved are in their 20s and are tourists visiting Western Australia and the home they were staying in is used as short stay accommodation for people like backpackers.

More details to come.
