Mandurah's new MP Rhys Williams has officially been sworn into WA Parliament.
The former Mayor of Mandurah won the seat in the State Election, taking over from long-standing MP David Templeman.
"It was such an honour to be sworn into the 42nd parliament yesterday, representing Mandurah's community that I love so much and that I've had the opportunity to serve now for so many years in other roles," Mr Williams told West Coast Radio.
"It was a real privilege to be part of a great group of parliamentarians, but a real privilege knowing that I have the trust of the community in serving in this role."
Mr Williams said it was now time to get stuck into his new role.
"The role has now started and the hard work begins," he said.
"One of the great things about having served in other roles in the community is that I know what the issues are and along with Lisa Munday (Dawesville MP) I'm really looking forward to getting down to business.
"We had the great opportunity to hear loudly and clearly from the community over the course of the campaign what the key issues are for the community and looking forward to getting down and fighting for those causes in the parliament."
Member for Murray-Wellington David Bolt was also officially sworn into parliament for the first time.
