Two men have miraculously survived a plane crash south of Mandurah.

The 85-year-old pilot and his 72-year-old passenger were flying in an Aeropilot Legend 600 plane just before 2pm on Tuesday when they were forced to make an emergency landing.

The plane's parachute was deployed which helped slow down the aircraft before it crashed landed in a paddock near Preston Beach Road North in Preston Beach.

St John Ambulance Paramedics and WA Police rushed to the scene.

Luckily both men suffered just minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation.

It is understood the Australian Transport Safety Bureau will investigate what caused the crash.
