Mandurah WA budget winners

The McGowan Government's first budget includes funding for the Mandurah foreshore redevelopment and the construction of a multi-level car park at Mandurah train station.

The 2017-18 WA Budget includes more than $138 million in funding for capital works in the Peel region.

There is $10 million for the eastern foreshore redevelopment and $16.1 million to construct a multi-storey car park at Mandurah station, providing an additional 300 car bays.

Other big investments for the Peel region includes $45 million for Nambeelup to ensure future development and growth of the Peel Business Park, $5 million for the Peel Youth Medical Service Hub to provide support for young people in region and $2.5 million to construct facilities on land adjacent to Lakelands Senior High School to be utilised by the school and the City of Mandurah.

Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the $10 million investment for the eastern foreshore redevelopment will create an iconic foreshore precinct in Mandurah that will drive tourism and create jobs.

"Investing in Nambeelup and the Peel Business Park will create long-term, sustainable jobs in the Peel region and drive new opportunities in agriculture and other industries.”

Premier Mark McGowan said the Labor Government is getting on with the job of delivering our election commitments to the people in the Peel region.

“Our first State Budget includes a big investment in the Peel region, with a focus on projects that will create jobs and opportunities for locals as well as improve important services such as health and education."
