Mandurah drama teacher Kellee Aberg is bringing her sold-out show back to Perth's Fringe World Festival.
Western Australia's Rosie Sitorus and Kellee Aberg will take to the Fringe stage again this year following sold-out performances at last year's Perth and Mandurah runs of the festival.
Fat Girls in Bike Shorts is a show about two 'fat girls' grabbing life by the handles and holding on for the ride, complete with glamorous costumes and plenty of funnies.
The show promotes body confidence, letting the audience know it's okay to have a laugh at yourself.
In previous years the show received four stars for performances at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in addition to rave reviews from punters at local shows.
This year we've been told to expect even more glitter, tighter bike shorts and showier show tunes.
Kellee Aberg said the show would return to the festival this year with changes to what the audience may have seen last year.
"We as performers and characters have grown, so you can expect a lot of new work and new songs – we’ve definitely come full circle," she said.
Her co-star Rosie Sitorus, who lived in Geraldton during the inception of the show, added Fat Girls teaches an important lesson about self-respect, and the show acts as a journey to realising that.
"We’ve realised that worth isn’t based on your appearance but in fact everything else,” Sitorus said.
“We want to emphasise that our show is for everyone regardless of your body type .... There are parts throughout that everyone can relate to."
Unfortunately the show won't be running in Mandurah this year, but will be showing in Perth and Geraldton next month.
Fat Girls in Bike Shorts is produced by The Comedy Emporium and is one of their most successful shows to come out of regional Western Australia.
Tickets are from $15 and are available online at www.fringeworld.com.au
