PIC: Shire of Waroona

Community groups and organisations in the Shire of Waroona can now apply for grants of up to $50,000 through the Alcoa Waroona Sustainability Fund.

The Fund aims to assist local groups in delivering projects that make a positive contribution towards economic social, recreational, and environmental sustainability in the region.

Community groups and organisations are being encouraged to apply for the grants, which range from $10,000 to $50,000.

To be eligible for the grants, applications should align with at least one of the following key priority areas:

  • Capital Improvements
  • Public Space Enhancement
  • Durable Equipment
  • Economic Development
  • Environmental Sustainability
  • Education and Training
  • Community Welfare

Shire of Waroona President Mike Walmsley said the Alcoa Warona Sustainability Advisory Committee hope to receive applications for developed projects of high community value.

"This grant funding has the ability to secure future projects for groups and create sustainable outcomes for the community," Mr Walmsley said.

"In the past, it has been very successful in being the basis to help attract other sources of funding culminating in organisations across the Shire such as the Waroona Community Men’s Shed, Preston Beach Golf Club and the Lake Clifton-Herron Residents' Association to develop tremendous long-term benefits for the community."

Applications are open until 4.30pm on Wednesday, April 26.
