The community is rallying behind the family of a local father who tragically lost his life in an alleged hit-and-run last week.
Jamie Murray was allegedly struck by a Kia Rio hatch just metres from his home on Creery Street in Dudley Park about 4.50am on Saturday, March 1.
The driver allegedly did not stop to help the 45-year-old, who was then found by a newspaper delivery driver shortly after.
Sadly, he could not be revived and died at the scene.
A GoFundMe page has since been created to help Mr Murray's family pay for his funeral and memorial services.
"On Saturday the 1st of March 2025 Jamie's life was tragically cut short at just 45 years old after an unimaginable sequence of events," GoFundMe creator Natasha O'Grady said.
"Jamie was a loving son, partner, devoted father and friend who touched so many lives with his kindness, warmth, and caring nature.
"While nothing can fill the void left by his passing, we hope to honor his memory by coming together as a community to support his family through this heartbreaking time.
"Words can't describe the heart ache of this tragedy for all his family, friends and the Mandurah community in which his was a major part of for decade's and was loved by everyone who knew him."
Ms O'Grady said remaining funds following the funeral would be given to Mr Murray's mother to help with the cost of packing up his unit and paying any outstanding bills he may have had.
Mr Murray was well known in the theatre community and had worked at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre for nearly two decades.
"Like many of you, we were shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our friend and colleague Jamie Murray over the weekend," the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre posted on their Facebook page.
"Having joined us in 2006, Jamie, a gentle, unassuming man, was well-liked and highly regarded by us all at ManPAC, along with the wider theatre community in WA.
"We’d like to send our deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time and will post further news on paying tribute to Jamie once we’ve had time to process this sad news."
A 37-year-old woman has been charged over the alleged hit-and-run.
She was arrested at a home on Creery Street the following day.
The woman is due to appear before the Mandurah Magistrates Court on March 18.
