The college's Principal has asked parents to keep students at home for the next two days.
It's an early start to school holidays for some students at Tranby College after classrooms were flooded by yesterday's downpour.
All senior classrooms, woodwork, science and art classes were soaked by water, as well as several offices and part of the MPH.
Torrential downpour also caused damage and flooding to all Year five and six classrooms and the Indonesian room, tin shed and art room too.
Parents collected students early from school yesterday after power was lost to parts of the college and classrooms became uninhabitable.
In a letter sent home to parents Principal Dr Clayton Massey thanked parents for their quick response.
"I appreciate everyone’s quick response to our message asking for students in Years 5-12 to be
collected earlier today," the letter said.
"Without power and without habitable rooms it was a decision in the interest of student safety.
"This afternoon we have been able to assess the damage. We cannot allow classes to take place in any room that has been flooded until the rooms have been inspected and certified safe by an electrician."
The damage caused by rain will mean classrooms will need to be treated for possible fungal spores, with furniture and carpets needed to be dried.
Dr Massey said no classes would be running for students from years three to ten for the last two days of term.
"Classes for Kindergarten to Year 2 will continue in normal classrooms. Classes in Years 11 and 12 will take place in unaffected classrooms," the letter said.
"We ask, if possible, that you keep your children in Years 3-10 home on Thursday 28th and Friday 29th June 2018. In the event that this is not convenient, we will supervise and provide educational activities for any student who attends on these days.
"Children in Years 3-6 who attend are asked to assemble at the MPH at 8:40am. Students in Years 7-10 should gather in the central area of the Technology Building at 8:40am."
Senior students will still attend classes and the junior schools Danceport Social scheduled for tonight will proceed as planned.
