Cyclists ride into fourth time trial

Peel Districts Cycling club welcomed the fourth ride of their seven part time trial summer series.

Peel Districts Cycling club welcomed the fourth time trial of the seven race summer series at the weekend.

The series has attracted riders of all abilities and ages, from 80-year-old Ken Portman to under 17 riders Dharlia Haines and Michael Baker. 

The race starts at the Hopelands Community Centre with riders starting a minute apart, racing down Hopelands Road for 8 kilometres before turning around and heading back to the Community Centre to finish.

Lennon McClintock completed the 16 kilometre course in 21 minutes and 39 seconds, averaging 44 kilometres an hour, making him the fastest rider of the day. 

80-year-old Ken Portman wasn't far behind travelling around 30 kilometres an hour and finishing in 31 minutes and 19 seconds. 

The next time trial at Hopelands on March 4.

Next Sunday it is a criterium race at the new circuit on Alumina Way in Rockingham.

There are two free events, with a children's ride kicking off at 9.30am.
