Mandurah Southern Districts Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade Captain Alan Bennett sadly passed away earlier this month.
Mandurah residents are remembering community volunteer Alan Bennett for his years dedicated to helping local residents in times of need.
Mr Bennett was a member of the Mandurah Southern Districts Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade for seven years, serving as Lieutenant, then as Captain – a position he held for two years.
He was also a contributing member of the City of Mandurah’s Bush Fire Advisory Committee, and actively promoted bush fire safety within the Mandurah community. He had also recently become an active member of the Mandurah State Emergency Service.
Mr Bennett's generosity didn't stop there, he was also part of the local Ulysses Motor Cycle Club, participating in annual toy rides at Christmas time.
Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams reflected on the work of Mr Bennett.
“Alan made a number of major, active contributions to the community in many ways over the years, and we are very grateful for these contributions. On behalf of the City and Council, I extend condolences to Alan’s family during this difficult time," he said.
Member for Mandurah David Templeman also offered his condolences to Alan's family.
“It is very sad to learn of Alan’s passing. My condolences go out to his family, friends and colleagues from the Mandurah Volunteer Southern Districts BFB," he said.
"Alan served as a past captain and was a member of the brigade for a number of years and made a significant contribution to his local brigade and to the volunteer fire brigade sector.
"He will be sadly missed.”
Alan's wife Pam will continue on as the Mandurah Southern Districts Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade secretary.
