The City of Kwinana has approved a third dog park.

The enclosed dog exercise area will be built near Quartermaine Boulevard in Mandogalup.

It will have a similar design to both Peace Park in Parmelia and the Honeywood dog park in Wandi.

Mayor Carol Adams said Council resolved in November to give notice of the City’s intention to declare an area adjacent to Quartermaine Boulevard in a new subdivision as a dog exercise area and public notices were issued.

No public comments were received in response and the Council at its first meeting of the year agreed to declare a portion of Lot 9010 to be a dog exercise area.

“The City is aware of strong demand for fenced dog exercise areas in residential areas across the district with this site being identified as suitable due to it being restricted public open space as a result of a Western Power easement,” Mayor Adams said.

“It is intended that this dog park will serve the emerging community in Mandogalup and provide a place for community interaction, socialisation and exercise,” she said.

The design and construction of the fenced dog park by Qube was approved through the landscape development approval process.
