A Byford man has been charged after allegedly punching a wall and acting in a disorderly manner at Perth Airport.
The 37-year-old was allegedly drunk as he boarded a flight to Melbourne on March 24.
When airline staff asked the man to leave the plane due to his intoxication, he allegedly became loud and aggressive towards them, later punching a wall outside the boarding gate with an "open palm".
AFP officers attended and arrested the man inside the domestic terminal.
He is also accused of refusing to identify himself.
The man was charged with acting in a disorderly manner in public and failing to comply with a request.
Each offence carries a maximum penalty of a $6000 fine.
The man is due to appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today, April 7.
AFP Detective Inspector Peter Brindal said the AFP would not tolerate disorderly or violent behaviour and commended the officers for their swift action.
“Our airports are a shared, safe space and airport and airline staff should not have to deal with intoxicated passengers, verbal abuse or any other bad behaviour,” Det Insp Brindal said.
“The AFP works closely with our partners in the airline industry to intervene if anyone’s behaviour in or around an airport becomes aggressive."
