Baldivis has topped the list of Perth metro suburbs for the highest uptake of funds claimed through the State Government's WA Student Assistance Payment program.

Almost 400,000 Western Australian families claimed the payment which provided $150 to every primary school-aged student and $250 for secondary students.

Baldivis families were paid $1,613,300, followed by Canning Vale with $1,086,000 and Ellenbrook with $978,650.

The top three regional suburbs for funds claimed was Australind with $583,750, followed by Halls Head with $400,250 and Dalyellup with $371,250.

"We are very proud to have delivered this opportunity to WA families with school-aged children to help with their ongoing school costs," Education Minister Dr Tony Buti said.

"I know Western Australians have experienced additional out-of-pocket expenses this year and are feeling cost-of-living pressures, so I am thrilled to see this payment reach them.

"For a program of this kind, the strong take up of 80 per cent of eligible school students is an incredible outcome that I know will make a huge difference to WA households."
