The new Lakelands Park shared sports facility and clubrooms was officially opened today.

The $7.9 million facility, on the corner of Mandurah Road and Banksiadale Gate, will cater for AFL football, cricket and diamond sports (T‑Ball, baseball and softball) for the local community and the adjacent high school.

The State Government contributed $4.65 million to the project, which included the development of the facility’s three new ovals and floodlighting.

The $2.85 million contributed by the City of Mandurah provided for the development of the facility’s new clubrooms.

The facility will be able to be used jointly by the local community and Coastal Lakes College.

“I’m very pleased that these top-class facilities will finally be able to be used by the local community and adjacent high school after more than a decade of advocacy for a sporting complex by the local community," Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray said.
