Johnny Cash’s new album ‘Songwriter’ has 11 unreleased songs produced by his son John Carter Cash

"Hello. I'm Johnny Cash."

If you’re a fan of Johnny Cash – then you’ll love this.

More than 20 years after his death, treasures have been unearthed in the Johnny Cash vault... and Universal Music is releasing a collection of 11 previously unreleased recordings that Cash demo-ed in 1993, all of them self-penned originals.

The album – titled Songwriter – will showcase these 11 songs - with his son John Carter Cash finishing the songs for his father.

He gathered musicians at the famed Cash Cabin to create new backing tracks – with special guests, country star Marty Stuart, Average White band drummer Peter Abbot, and Cash’s touring bassist Dave Roe – who passed away last year after the album was finished.

Vince Gill and the Black Keys Dan Auerbach were among the guests on the project.

Songwriter is out June 28 and the first track, Well Alright is out now.
