Parenting After Separation – Putting Children First is a new 5-week course that aims to support separated parents adapt and work through the challenges of separation, with a particular focus on maintaining the well-being of their children. Only one parent from each family can attend the program at the same time.
Managed well, separation doesn’t have to be harmful to children. How well children adapt is strongly influenced by their parents’ capacity to see the situation from their child’s perspective and by parents choosing to focus on what is in the child’s best interests.
Areas covered include:
Understanding and supporting children’s reactions to parental separation
Exploring the impact of grief and loss
Recognising and minimizing the impact of parental conflict on children
Navigating disputes and disagreements
Supporting the parent-child relationship and your children’s wellbeing.
